Deep winter cycling gloves
These sealskinz are the warmest cycling gloves I've ever used. After the bitter early winter weather, with temperatures several degrees below zero I needed to get better gloves. After listening to podcasts on deep winter clothing I was after "lobster claw" (or "sloth") gloves. There are so few of these available that I went for the sealskinz on the basis of having used their waterproof socks for several years. They have been tremendous. I have been able to dispense with liner gloves for 40 minute rides a couple of degrees below; rides which previously needed liners and at least one stop along the route to warm up.
Disappointed
It is a very warm glove but there are issues;
The inner lining is not fully attached to the out shell, it often feels as though you are about to loose control because of the strange feeling of movement.
Making gear shifts isn't as easy as it usually is, the thickness of the padding often means you have to move your hand make a clean shift.
There are many people that will not like having their fingers split down the middle, it's a strange uncomfortable feeling.
For me, they don't work,less control,awkward shifting and uncomfortable.
I'll stick with standard 5 fingered gloves with a silk liner from now on.
