Well designed front mech
This is the 9 speed top swing version where the mounting band is below the main body - well below the seat tube bottle mounts on my aging Trek, unlike the equally old XT model this one replaces. This version also supports outer rings up to 48T and is a universal design that not only supports both top & bottom cable routing but the three seat tube diameters with the use of the supplied shims.
You will need to break the chain to fit - the cage is riveted. The two main pivot points are widely seperated, avoiding flex. The top horizontal part of the cage is laser-cut with "XT" - a nice touch.
I found this easy to fit & setup. I would advise opening out the "LOW" adjustment screw as much as possible, screw in the cable adjuster then pull the cable as tight as possible before tightening the cable clamp screw. doing so will remove most of the slack without having to rotate the cable adjuster too far - by the time you you adjust the "LOW" screw to its optimum position,...
