Very comfortable medium distance run short
Very comfortable running short which is slightly longer than others I have tried (for those with long legs....34"). I have worn these over medium distance runs (10-20km) and they are very comfortable and provide good support. My only niggle is that they can slightly move up your leg, but that may be because I have long/slim legs. Do they work better than 'baggy' shorts? Yes, I believe so - my thighs certainly don't feel as tired/sore after a longer run, but I am considering getting the 3/4 length run-tights to see if they give even more support.

I've never owned padded shorts before, so can't compare to others, I ordered a 16 to 18 being a size 16, a little slack on the waist but good on legs, I ordered this size due to being quite tall, was worried about leg length on picture, but it's good actually, finishes about 5 inches above knee. Also pad not removable.

All told I own 5 pairs of padded under shorts and these are the ones I favour for longer road rides. For mountain biking i.e. purely off road I prefer a thinner pair of fox under-shorts that came with my riding shorts as I spend less time in the saddle and have full sus to soften the ride.
Back to the Funkier's tho... the chamois is of a much better design than you usually get at this price range, its thickness varies to allow it to conform to you better. Avoid padded shorts that have a chamois that is just a single thickness pad.

Great shorts. Substantial enough to be warm on cold days, yet breathable. Never chafed or irritated me. For small guys, unless you're built like a stick insect, get medium. (I'm a trim 32 waist with legs on the muscly side, they fit perfectly)

Great MTB shorts
Bought a pair of these last week, and when they arrived fitted perfectly and appeared well made. I immediately ordered another pair and used them for the first time today. They were brilliant, it was minus 2 degrees outside and cycling with just the shorts and Tenn long sleeve cycling shirt, I was kept warm and remarkably dry bearing in mind I was slipping and sliding in snow and ice.

Added to this, where the snow had frozen I fell off twice, sliding a good 4 or 5 metres on sheet ice, and no damage to my new shorts, and kept me dry which was a godsend on a 25km ride in the snow.

As mentioned, already bought a second pair and very happy. These were also featured in the Mountain Bike magazine, where they were given a 4 out of 5. This is where I saw them to know to look for them..

I found these shorts to be quite comfortable to wear with the armour padding hard but unobtrusive. They need to be worn under other shorts, or you need to wear a pair of briefs under the shorts as they are mainly fishnet except for a small modesty panel,(or am I boasting??!!). However they do appear to give good protection to the hips and spine in the event of falling off your bike!! I have used them on my bicycle and under a pair of jeans on my motorbike - a very useful product if you are in to two wheels!
