Pretty & Practical
Shopped around and this was the best price for this pannier. I love it. It doesn't look like the picture but I knew this before ordering as this picture is old artwork. It still looks good and does the job I need it for. Plenty of space, fits easily on bike using straps provided. This is a bag you would leave on the bike rather than other types that can clip on/off regularly. Have used this for my daily commute plus shopping. Has fasteners to secure flaps and Velcro fasteners to connect bottom of bag to each side of bike's luggage rack. I love it's super retro prettiness. Have taken off my wicker basket as this hold just a much if not more, but the bike is easier to handle,

Basil bike panniers
It looks very pretty on the bike. Easy to put on the bike and to take it off. Large bags with useful zip pocket at the front. I've been using them for shopping. Great!! A++

Great purchase
I recently got a new bike; The Trek 'St. Tropez'. These panniers look amazing on it's white and blue frame and are very spacious, perfect for school books or shopping. They have lots of different pockets and are easy to put on. The reflective bands on each side are great for safety. Would definitely reccomend. Gorgeous!

Brilliant, product - exactly what I was hoping for!
I have just ordered two of these bags for a Christmas present for my sister who cycles in town to do her shopping. They are amazing: perfect size, sturdy fabric, waterproof material (so will be easily wipable if dirty). They have little feet so will not be straight on the dirty ground when unclipped from the bike. They have very good, slightly padded handles so will be great for carrying the shopping. In a nutshell, I would definitely recommend this product if you are looking for a fashionable but useful bike bag!

My Girlfirend is very happy with this!!!
My girlfriend has been struggling for a long time with placing shopping and items in the basket on the front of her bike. Front baskets look very chic & ladylike, however they have a big impact on steering & make the bike a lot harder to maneuver!

Her bike had a rear carrier already & by the description it suggested that this should simply be able to clip straight on. It was - on the side it has metal clips that allow it to be slid on and off easily onto the carrier.

The fact that the design is so nice, is a huge plus for any lady, as they can use it as a shopping bag - it doesn't look like those hideous old fashioned panniers you could buy from Halfords or Argos! My girlfriend feels very proud to carry this into town on a shopping trip - which more and more she is making the journey on her bike as its so much nicer than driving, trying to find a parking spot but also with the cost of petrol!!!

Sweet Basil
This basket was purchased for my husband's battery trike to replace one that had become extremely battered. He does miles around the local countryside with his terrier for company & the dog loves his new transport. The basket has a close mesh & is very sturdy. The sprung fastenings were the wrong size for his carrier but we have bolted it on as he doesn't wish to remove it. The USP was the name badge on the basket - my husband is called Basil!

Big and beefy
Fits snuggly on the rack of my Dutch bike. Lakes my laptop bag + change of clothes to work with no problems . No movement even going over London potholes with a full load of shopping.

Much more convienient than panniers

Brilliant
I love this bag - it attaches easily and securely to the bike and looks like a nice bag rather than a macho pannier. Too small for shopping, but perfect as a briefcase and easily copes with bike lock, I-pad etc. It seems to be very robust and well made.

Girlie Pannier. Who Knew?
I absolutely love the Basil Katharina Pannier. Hats off to the Dutch for producing attractive, feminine, elegant panniers that can be used as normal every day bags. The hooks that secure the bag to rear bike rack can be hidden in a zipped compartment once it is detached from the rack. It is even made from recyclable material, which provides you with more brownie points when you are cycling around town.

Amazon makes the purchasing of this bag more affordable, but I can see myself developing a pannier fetish.

I haven't tested the water repellancy of the bag, but I would prefer to take care of it and use it more as a bag for when I go out rather than a heavy duty pannier.

The only negative (I guess I had to come up with something) I would make is that, it would be better if the bag had a double zipper as once it is naturally place on my right shoulder the zipper is at the rear of the bag creating a bit of a security issue.

Fantastic bag
I love this bag! Its a good size, holds all my necessary bits and bobs, as well as my lunch, and fits neatly and securely to the pannier. The material is water resistant as well so my stuff doesn't get soggy in the rain. I bought this bag as I wanted something I could throw on the bike and use as an everyday bag since I don't ride everyday - this bag is perfect for that as the pannier clips are hidden in a little zip away compartment on the back. Good price too, loads cheaper than some handbags I've bought in the past!

Excellent permanent panniers.
I bought these in 2009 to fit my Pashley.
Since then I have never taken them off, as these are meant to be left on (hence other removable style commuting bags from Basil and other companies).
I use my bike daily, to take the school bags and lunches of three children to school and back, to go to town and collect emergency supplies, and to the out of towm to lug home 8 pints of milk plus everything else a large family needs.
After all this time, the bags remain in excellent condition, are easy to access and have saved many a car journey.

5 stars.

Gorgeous
Very pretty and practical water resistant panniers, the only possible improvement would of been an 'over hanging edge' on the side of them, other than that my daughter loves them and there is plenty of room for all her UNI books or shopping

Good quality bag - I love it!
I cycle to work with this bag attached to my bike every week-day. The capacity is very good and it can fit all the basic shopping which I collect from the supermarket on the way home. I have used it on my cycling holiday in France where it held my sun screen, camera and all the other essentials needed for a day's cycling; it's also held several bottles of wine on the way back to the g

Good quality
I wanted a durable, roomy bike bag mostly for the times I do any bigger shopping. This bag seems to be very good quality and looks nice, I haven't used it enough to say how it would endure a more frequent use. I can only blame myself for not foreseeing the limitations of the double bag; it's not the easiest to attach to or take off the bike rack, which is why I tend to leave it at home. I think it would be great on a long distance cycling trip though.

Stylish and Practical
I was looking for panniers that would hold a lot but also look smart on my bike. The bags more than live up to that. I can fit so much stuff in them! Mostly gym kit but also I can fit my whole week's shopping in the two spacious main compartments! They also have lots of extra pockets for putting smaller items in.
The thing that drew me to the Basil brand was the fact that they have reflective strips on all sides whereas other makes don't. This simple little thing makes me feel much safer at night knowing cars wont smash into my overpacked panniers!
The colour of the panniers is a little more purple than in the picture, but still mostly dark navy :)
What you can't see in the picture is that under the top flap there are buckles securing it down so it doesnt blow up in the wind, there is also a drawstring to the main compartment helping to keep the contents dry in case it rains.
They are very easy to fit onto a bike rack on your bike and are nice and secure so they...
